The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 年度十佳。竟从若有若无的海浪声之中、仿佛因经历核战争而斑驳不已的墙壁之间看出了一种诗意。与去年的金棕榈影片《钛》形成奇妙的互文：本片讲技术驾驭人，从未来审视现在；《钛》讲人借技术以改变社会关系，以现在畅想未来；两者都以body horror为表现形式。或许《钛》的未来就是《未来罪行》，有一天，当人类不再处于进化的中心，我也绝不会惊讶。好想在大银幕上看。
目前为止最为复杂的一部柯南伯格。无论是原始的性-欲望还是相较更结构化的现代性的权力机制都有着多层次的展开，关于“审核”的阐释算是妙笔——它的存在反而生成了新的刺激；有待重看。
