The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 从前半段的五星铺陈，到中段直降3星的剧情智商，再到决战的4星集大成，终局的小反转并没卵用——however，尼哥style的西部片算是成型了，以后可谓能独开一路。确实音乐部分满分，简直是前几年Kendrick Lamar的音乐创作思路整个延展到影视，又或者说是《汉密尔顿》舞台剧音乐的film化，but，还是略微微没hold住，主要是中间段，装逼有点过了。总之，也算是没白期待这么久。

太难看了，换成白人也一样难看，没完没了的叨逼台词和人脸特写，外景也假，除了音乐和结尾枪战能加点分，据称网飞砸了9千万，比起几年前同样的大制作《豪勇七蛟龙》差的远了，而那部片只有一个黑人华盛顿能碾压此片
服化道太出戏了，风格化和写实两头都没特色，jayz参与制作人，但音乐上也乏善可陈

【C】这拍的都是什么鬼…几乎继承了第一部所有缺点并成倍放大，扁平的角色、白开水的故事、走流程般的叙事、无趣的对白、糟糕的节奏、跑路的逻辑，最难受的是和第一部一样全片都粗糙得就像直接用初稿拍出来的一样，很多情节因为缺乏基础逻辑所以毫无说服力，角色行为逻辑也是个谜。最想吐槽的是屠杀的诞生原因居然这么…我找不到词来形容编剧的偷懒了…
5颗星不给剧情，全部给配乐和画面配色，音乐都是我喜欢的风格，画面都是很美很舒服的设计，我决定搜搜这个导演其他作品

这电影咋拍的，感觉是mv里穿插了汽车广告，男主角也很难以描述。但是Talia好美，美到仿佛她随便看我一眼，我就要坠入爱河。
