The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 类似的剧情真的太多太多了。
人类没救了
网飞的大拼盘电影，第一幕大量铺垫了猎人们的人物性格和人物关系，结果第三幕一个都没利用起来。小女孩强行嘴炮起义太不合理，要是国王和王后利用海兽安排了什么触动民众利益的大阴谋，最后被揭穿遭万民唾弃也就罢了，居然处理得如此低幼。红色巨兽不知道是不是在内涵什么，西方统治阶级妖魔化无害的巨兽来攫取利益，很容易让人联想到一些现实
爱的故事，方式，细节都模糊了，故事发生的地点也不存在了，一部分的自己停留在了某个时刻，不管怎样试图记录又试图抹去，都注定要逝去了。可是爱的感觉却印刻在身体里。看着廉价酒店天花板上人造的银河，想着宫泽贤治，告诉对方“你的身体里充满了尚未成佛的词语”，有过这一爱的时刻的人永远都无法忘记吧。
3.5 森山未来演的真好，驾驭了25年的时间跨度，喜欢他的气质，剧情本身和编排并不出彩。
从另一方面想，如果红色海兽代表CN一切似乎又说得通了。
平庸+无聊，前半小时就及格了，结果后面观感反而有下降，好莱坞也不会做动画了么？
最好看的是小红大战螃蟹。
动画制作没什么好挑剔的，但这个主题超尴尬，当年的驯龙记是完全建立上童话基础上的，幼齿而温暖。这部的概念就不三不四了，里面有太多政治隐喻，被篡改的历史，被愚弄的群众，利益诱导下的战争，被牺牲的英雄，被虚荣遮蔽的正义，但是没一个一本正经挑开了说，最后就解决于一个小孩子的几句话，拜托，要童话就纯洁得彻底一点，要有成人主题就负点责任，这编剧又是一副不知道怎么继续索性摆烂的架势，烂尾项目。
大概是我没怎么看过这种类型的日本电影，我认真的看了前一个小时，昏昏欲睡下强行继续看完了后一个小时。
就驯龙高手一样的故事线 但收尾确实也很草率 小孩几句话结束上百年的种族之战
一个三十岁的中年人的阅历看这部电影，童话永远是童话，现实中没那么多救世主，也没那么多清醒的人。
能看到很多作品的影子，大红鱼和小女孩是《大鱼海棠》，海兽站起来的压迫感像《哥斯拉》，故事情节又有点像《驯龙高手》，整体是熟悉的感觉，所以谈不上惊喜，是一部中规中矩的冒险动画。
海怪可以多发掘一些，剧情比较老套，高潮破坏港湾特效很好。
我不知道这部电影在讲什么，就好像男主一直很颓很丧，一直在怀念过去，一直在和不同的女人约会见面，但是他到底想表达什么呢？
小蓝也太可爱了吧！
虽然故事内核挺老套的，但是小红真的很好，她以德报怨呐。
结尾升华的点得很不错，讽刺了贵族上等阶层为了自己的利益，制造谎言，让海怪和底层猎人自相残杀了数个世纪的卑劣的从中渔利行径。
这个剧情十年前就已经看腻了，仿佛是同样的剧本，拍了几十部不同的电影。
