The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 表現方式上，盡管是一鏡到底卻流暢自然，在狹小的空間里卻收放自如，導演敢於信任演員讓他們在這個場景中真實地承擔著每個角色的真實狀態。幾句話，一個表情就把形形色色的人描繪出來，兩次間隔很短的“救護車”的出現將崩潰表現出來。影片只是表現了一個半小時的餐廳營業，卻通過把形形色色的人勾勒出來，每個人都像是鍋里的濃湯，各自沸點不同，而當低沸點統統蒸發時，此時熱油才開始焦灼並毀掉一切。
