The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 如果最后结局是大家都失去了魔法踏踏实实做普通人我就给五星。这才是family对米拉贝最大的尊重。
没想到评分如此之低，我意外地非常喜欢，而且哭到泣不成声，哈哈哈。那种从“我一定要做点什么证明自己是有价值的”到“你无需向任何人证明，你就是你”的转变，特别是最后家里人歌唱“我们看到了你全力的燃烧”那一段，简直是东亚传统家庭背景下背负巨大精神压力的小孩梦境中都不敢实现然而又期待已久的疗愈场景。阿嬷回忆时的那首歌和pressure主题那首歌比较好听。
法国电影真的很符合我的口味 电影色彩 配乐 语气节奏与转场都很喜欢 演员的演技都很让我震撼 虽然是讲见鬼的电影 但是全程没有鬼影 都是靠演员的演技来给你营造气氛 除了结尾感觉有点唏嘘 但是 现实不就是那么残酷无情吗
故事新意不多 出彩在于穿插在其中无文化stereotype的笑点 以及南美风情高饱和色块的使用 但我由于个人原因 对这个有点神秘色彩奇迹和诅咒的故事特别感同身受 trigger到了我今年的某个trauma 最后一句奇迹就是自己 未来也不是一定的仿佛是对我自己说的 女性觉醒处理可以 也没有太讨嫌的角色 我还挺喜欢的/empire 25的杜比厅太舒服了 标第四排中间 最佳观影位置
可能类似题材的看过了，就感受不是很大，拍的太压抑，也不懂为啥老拍写赤裸的镜头，甚至有点反感，整部片从开始到结局也什么起伏，护士长没跟她走想不通，女主一直被打压最后还隐居了？类似题材的拉楔特就拍的节奏还有起伏就很好，虽然也是个爽剧，但观感比这部好太多了，就感觉是部很多年前拍的电影，结果定眼一看，2021年拍的。。。

女主被關在小房間裡時那種無助感不知道為什麼我一個現代人感同身受。不過結局差點意思，並不是想要女主把所有「瘋女人」救出來，而是總覺得有點不真實。
一直延续到最后的精神胜利法令人难受。不过电影里隐喻的女性牢笼，以及女性在社会蛮力压迫下的生不由己势单力薄，却都是切切实实即使换个时代背景也可以感受到的。
算是作为导演的梅拉尼交出的一份不错的作业，男权社会女性只是附庸，不论是在尤金妮家里做主的父亲，还是医院里身为“担保人”的教授，开篇镜头美到出奇，双女主之间的感情实在是交代的过于隐晦，但两位是真的养眼，看完之后叹一句确实是法国片的调性了
就算知道能看到别人看不见的东西，长这么大了也应该清楚学会隐藏自己吧，在那个年代没被烧死而是送去治疗已经很不错了……
梅拉尼真是才貌双绝啊（虽然本片中扮相略老），自编自导本片，还是女主之一；背景和服化道都很到位，配乐虽然只是简单的大提琴奏鸣曲，但和背景相得益彰，和悲凉的氛围很配。
这个节奏太慢了，二倍速都急死我，但剧情还行
法国这类女性电影总是有近乎油画般的质感与光晕 如燃烧的女人画像一般 每一帧都带有女性细腻柔美的触感 到每一个拧开的纽扣 到随意盘起头发显露出来优美的脖颈线条 到眼角自然的皱纹 无不散发着温柔且褶皱的线条
能够通灵的女主被送进精神病院，最终在护士长的帮助下成功逃离，涉及了不少流行的主题，女性的互相帮助，女性受到的精神压迫等，但笔力不是很到位，欠点火候。
结尾太老套，整体基调还不错。《圣母》更胜一筹

救命 居然有人说不好看 真的很好看好吗！不是所有电影都需要一波三折的情节！平淡但温暖的剧情（中途两次落泪）+有趣的人物设定+精彩的歌曲（迪士尼classic+pop的新元素 很惊喜 好喜欢pressure那首）真的很好！
