The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 男人之间的勇敢者游戏。虽然保持了 Lowery 鬼魅游离慢悠悠的风格，但这个高文爵士塑造的真是一言难尽，后半段 Joel 出现时才开始进入正常状态。
甚是唏嘘，而这类宏大叙事的作品，要很具备实力的编导才能实现，虽未能十分满意，导演以90的高龄，还是能运用音乐和画面的牵引下，观众被卷入一种深层的悲伤。

The first part in B/W could be seen as a journey to bid his brother a moving adieu by transporting the ashes of Pirandello, whose works have been adapted by the brothers, to his Sicilian homeland. Whereas the second part in color is quite confusing for us who have never read the story before. The shift from grey to color is poetic though
导演运用了很多视觉上的小心思去诠释这样一个叙事诗的题材，和鬼魅浮生一样，整体调性过于装腔作势，使得虚伪骑士毁灭过程流于表面。
很稳。死亡与乡愁几乎是暮年大师们的永恒主题。看不懂是正常的！
诚然影片中段我也想把导演吊起来陀螺般抽打，但此片的前40分钟和结尾，通篇神话寓言的呈现，非常接近我心目中理想的电影……意象、背景、配乐、光影、调度、表演、布景。未经准备的少年在懵懂中踏上试炼之旅。高文的黄粱一梦，剪接中光阴如白驹过隙。
影像很棒，但是略闷，虽然洛维的片子一向闷，但这一部总觉得没有重点，太散了
